reporting from the pentagon. bill: martha, we have taken a look now on the percentages of defense spending for countries like the united states, russia, china. we just wanted to give viewers at home an idea about what countries are doing what over the past four years and coming four years. what we've done is taken a percentage of the defense budget growth, starting in 2007, going up to 2011. so you have a period of four years here. between china, russia and the united states down here on the bottom. if we use our slide rule here, and bring it out to just about the current year, 2012, you see where these three lines diverge. china goes up. russia goes up to a lesser degree and the u.s. almost remains flat compared to the other two countries. if you project us next four years to say, 2015, watch what happens to the lines to the three countries and percentage in their defense budget. china is 300% increase. russia is not too far behind. the united states is not only flat but trailing now as we move toward the year 2
